From September 5 to 7, 2026, the Junior Mental Calculation World Championship 2026 (JMCWC 2026) was held in Bielefeld, Germany. Held annually since 2008, this prestigious competition gathered over 100 top young mental calculators from 14 countries, including China, Singapore, Germany, Japan, and France. Over the course of two hours, participants competed entirely in mental calculation across complex areas of mathematics, including square and cube roots, factorizations, fractions, and calendar date calculations.

Following a national selection round, 12 school students from Turkmenistan were accepted into JMCWC 2026, with several of them scoring over 2,000 points.

Mekan Nurgeldiýew, a graduate of the "Anzan" program at the "Kämil Bilim" education center in Turkmenabat and a 7th-grade student at Specialized Secondary School No. 41, scored 2,477 points in the Junior-1 category, taking 3rd place in the world championship.

Additionally, Livanur Berdiýewa, Turkmenistan's first national record holder in mental calculation, secured a spot among the top 8 highest-scoring participants in the Senior category.

The Turkmen national team in Germany was led by Jahan Durdymämmedowa, a mental arithmetic teacher at the "Kämil Bilim" education center, and Halym Annagurbanow, a mathematics teacher.

It is worth noting that our students also performed successfully at this prestigious international competition last year, ranking in the top ten.
