Turkmenistan has put forward an initiative to establish the Ashgabat climate dialogue

On the 15th of October, speaking at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed establishing a new multilateral platform – the Ashgabat Climate Dialogue.

The head of state noted that climate change and environmental security issues remain serious challenges of our time. In this regard, Turkmenistan places particular emphasis on uniting the efforts of states to ensure the rational use of water resources, the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies, and increased economic resilience to global climate change.

«To make a practical contribution to the development of international environmental cooperation, Turkmenistan is proposing the establishment of the Ashgabat climate dialogue - a multilateral platform for exchanging experiences and coordinating approaches to climate change adaptation, combating desertification and drought, rational use of water resources, and promoting «green» solutions», – the Turkmen leader stated.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited interested states and international partners to support this initiative, emphasising high potential of the Organisation for implementing joint environmental projects and disseminating effective solutions for sustainable environmental development.
