The French Institute in Turkmenistan, in collaboration with the Chess Federation of the country, has announced the reopening of a chess club. Fans of intellectual sports are invited to join the new 2026-2027 season.
The first meeting of the club will take place on the 31st of October, after which sessions will be held every Saturday at 18:30 at the French Institute in Turkmenistan.
Participation in the club is free of charge. While knowing French would be a nice bonus, it is not a requirement for attending.
The organisers also note that the club is geared toward players with a wide range of skill levels:
• For beginners: Novice chess players will receive guidance from experienced mentors to help them master the rules, understand fundamental principles, and take their first confident steps in the game.
• For experienced players: Visitors can play friendly matches, exchange experience, hone their skills, and learn new tactical techniques during regular training sessions.
«Our goal is to make chess more accessible and engaging for a wider range of people. Chess is a game for everyone, and we want as many people as possible to come to love it», − emphasised representatives of the French Institute.
The organisers invite everyone to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of an intellectual sport, meet like-minded people, and test their skills at the chessboard.
