On 28 October, Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev, Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, participated in a roundtable meeting of the education ministers of Central Asian countries in Tashkent. The meeting was held under the theme “Developing a Common Educational Space in Central Asia and International Cooperation”.

In his address, the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan expressed his gratitude to the Uzbek side for organizing the dialogue and emphasized the enduring value of the centuries-old ties of good-neighbourliness and strategic partnership among the countries of the region.

It was noted that the modern era of innovation and technology places particular emphasis on the effective development of human capital as a key driver of sustainable economic growth.

Participants in the roundtable were introduced to the key achievements of Turkmenistan’s state policy in the fields of education and science, implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and based on the strategic initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The initiatives proposed by Turkmenistan to expand regional cooperation attracted particular interest from colleagues:

Academic Mobility and Integration: Developing dual-degree programs, joint master’s programs, and exchange placements for academic staff, researchers, and students.

Mutual Trust and Recognition of Qualifications: Coordinating national procedures in accordance with the Lisbon Recognition Convention, which Turkmenistan joined in 2022.

Joint Research Agenda: Implementing collaborative projects in artificial intelligence, rational water management, green energy, and ecology, while also supporting youth start-up initiatives.

Regular Dialogue: Establishing a permanent framework for consultations among the relevant government agencies and leading universities of Central Asian countries.

In conclusion, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan, guided by the principles of positive neutrality and equal cooperation, stands ready to make a meaningful contribution to the establishment of a common educational space that will open up broad opportunities for the younger generation throughout the region.
