Turkmenistan and Sverdlovsk Oblast expand horizons of partnership

On the sidelines of the International Conference and Exhibition "Development of the Construction, Industrial, Chemical and Energy Sectors of Turkmenistan" (CIET 2026), the honorary participant of the forum, Deputy Governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast of the Russian Federation Dmitry Ionin shared his vision of the prospects for bilateral economic and scientific-educational cooperation.

The visit of a representative delegation from the Ural region to Ashgabat became a logical continuation of the established dialogue. Delegations from Turkmenistan had previously taken an active part in two International Industrial Exhibitions "Innoprom" in Yekaterinburg. The return visit of Sverdlovsk industrialists took place at the invitation of the Ministry of Industry and Construction Production of Turkmenistan.

The Russian delegation included representatives of 15 leading enterprises of Sverdlovsk Oblast. The purpose of their participation in the CIET 2026 forum was to find partners, develop export-import ties and study opportunities for localizing production on the territory of Turkmenistan. As part of the busy program of the visit, specialized meetings had already been held with the leadership of the country's leading state concerns, where the capabilities of the Russian region were presented.

"Sverdlovsk Oblast, being one of the largest industrial centers of Russia, possesses extensive technological and research competencies. The most important vector of long-term partnership is personnel training. Today, more than 500 students from Turkmenistan are studying at universities in Yekaterinburg, including Ural Federal University and Ural State Mining University. The training of highly qualified specialists creates a reliable foundation for subsequent industrial and scientific-technical cooperation between the enterprises of the two countries," said D. Ionin.

According to the deputy governor, bilateral cooperation is of a parity and mutually enriching nature. Ural enterprises are ready to offer their technological solutions to meet the needs of the Turkmen market. In turn, Sverdlovsk Oblast also shows high interest in importing products from Turkmenistan.

"This is mutually beneficial cooperation, which is always reached when trusting relations are established. Let us consider that we have already taken the first step for dialogue; now we need to take the next step for joint work," noted D. Ionin.

Sharing his personal impressions of the visit, the head of the Russian delegation expressed sincere admiration for the architectural appearance and beauty of the Turkmen capital, emphasizing that the city's infrastructure exceeded the highest expectations.

In conclusion, the Sverdlovsk side invited an expanded delegation of ministries, departments and industrial enterprises of Turkmenistan to take part in the next International Industrial Exhibition "Innoprom" this coming summer in order to work out joint production chains.
