President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting. The meeting agenda focused on the issues of further development of such spheres as science, education, health care, sport, tourism and culture in the context of solution of the key tasks set by the socially oriented policy of the Turkmen state. The heads of the relevant ministries and departments took part in the meeting.
The issues of admission of school-leavers to higher educational institutions and vocational schools, the measures taken to develop the sanatorium and resort sphere, modernize the health care infrastructure, as well as the work carried out by the scientific institutions of the country, the sphere of tourism and sport were discussed during the meeting. Particular attention was paid to the issues related to development of the sphere of culture and mass media.
The President of Turkmenistan gave a number of instructions to the relevant officials. In particular, the Turkmen leader instructed them to consider the issue of extension of education curriculum in secondary schools up to 11-12 years based on the world practice. The President of Turkmenistan also noted that in order to establish the proper work of the State Publishing Service it was required to speed up construction of a new Printing Centre.
A number of personnel and organizational decisions were taken during the meeting. The President severely reprimanded the Minister of Education for the failure to properly perform official duties and keep rigorous control over the activity of educational institutions under his supervision. The President of Turkmenistan relieved the Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism and Sport of his position for serious shortcomings and the failure to perform his duties properly.
Noting that the State Committee for Tourism and Sport doesn’t cope with the tasks assigned to it, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov informed those present about abolishment of this committee and establishment of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Sport. In accordance with the Turkmen leader’s decision the Committee for the Avaza National tourist zone in charge of the issues on creating a new center of tourism and recreation at the Caspian Coast had been also abolished. On the basis of it the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Tourism was established. The Committee for the Avaza National tourist zone will be affiliated to the structure of the newly-established institution as an independent department. In order to improve the archival work, the Turkmen leader signed the Decree “On establishment of the archive of the President of Turkmenistan”.
