President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. The meeting agenda focused on the results of the elections of Gengesh members taken place in Turkmenistan on August 20 as well as a number of important issues of the state policy life and drafts of some documents.

Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan O. Niyazlyyev reported on the results of elections to local authorities – Gengesh. 6,099 Gengesh members were elected. 89.91 percent of the total number of voters took part in the elections. A. Godjenov and A. Ybytov were elected the Mejlis deputies in two constituencies – No. 26 in Kaahka Etrap in Ahal Velayat and No. 99 in Mary in Mary Velayat.

Vice Premiers reported on the existing situation in the spheres under their supervision. Thus, it was reported on the outcomes of the 15th sitting of the Interdepartmental commission of Turkmenistan on the Caspian Sea, on the programme of events scheduled for September, including international exhibitions, conferences and festivals, opening new social and cultural facilities and festivities on occasion of the Day of Knowledge and Student Youth. Vice Premiers informed the Turkmen leader on the progress in implementing the state social policy and national programmes on developing science and education, healthcare, sport and tourism.

It was also reported on the measures taken to prepare for the new academic year. In particular, it was noted that 1,723 secondary schools and 738 kindergartens were repaired and 129 schools and 102 kindergartens were fundamentally repaired. On occasion of the beginning of the new academic year, 17 new secondary schools and 12 kindergartens as well as a new complex of buildings of the Turkmen State Institute of Oil and Gas were put into operation.

Vice Premiers reported on the progress in implementing the seasonal agricultural campaigns, including winter wheat sowing campaign and cotton picking campaign. In general, this year it is planned to harvest 1,109,000 tons of raw cotton in 550,000-hectare areas sown with cotton.

During the meeting the project of a new multifunctional park of recreation to be built between the Georogly and D. Azadi Streets was presented to the Turkmen leader. It was reported on the measures taken to ensure construction of a bridge along the Atamyrat-Ymamnazar railway, implementation of the projects in the oil and gas industry of the country, on the existing situation in the chemical and fish industry, development of oil and gas deposits in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

The other important state policy issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the meeting.
