President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the State Duma Committee for the CIS and Russian Diaspora Leonid Slutsky and Secretary General of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the CIS Mikhail Krotov.
The President of Turkmenistan and his guests exchanged their views on the prospects of the bilateral cooperation in the priority spheres underlining the huge potential for further enhancing the trading and economic, humanitarian and cultural contacts. It was underlined the significant role of developing the close interparliamentary relations as an important aspect of the Turkmen-Russian dialogue.
The issues related to the presidency of Turkmenistan over the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2012 were discussed during the meeting.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined that cooperation within the CIS had satisfied the priorities of the foreign-policy strategy of neutral Turkmenistan, including its key vector – development of fruitful partnership with authoritative regional and international organisations and structures.

Within the framework of the visit to Ashgabat the delegation led by Chairman of the State Duma Committee for the CIS and Russian Diaspora Leonid Slutsky was received at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The urgent issues of the Turkmen-Russian relations, including widening the mutually beneficial interparliamentary relations and exchange of experience in the lawmaking sphere as well as the prospects for further enhancing of the bilateral cooperation in a wide spectrum of areas were discussed during the meetings.
