The national planting campaign started in Turkmenistan.
Early in the morning on October 13, the numerous participants of the national planting campaign gathered together in the southern part of the Turkmen capital – on the Chandybyl Avenue stretching in new, rapidly developing business center of Ashgabat along the picturesque foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains.
The President’s cortege headed to the place where the national planting campaign started. Vice Premiers, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the heads of military and law-enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, the deputies of the National Parliament, representatives of the diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, public organisations, students and journalists welcomed the President of Turkmenistan.
Cordially greeting those present, the Turkmen leader, by tradition, planted a tree starting the national planting campaign. All those present followed the Turkmen leader’s example.
Over 320,000 Turkmen citizens took part in the national planting campaign started throughout the country symbolizing the Turkmen people’s love for the native land. More than 367,000 saplings of young deciduous, coniferous and fruit trees were planted all around the country. Particular attention was also paid to treating young trees planted earlier that will allow 980,000 trees to become stronger.
