The VII CIS Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia started its work on the Turkmen capital. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov participated in the solemn ceremony of opening the forum.
The President of Turkmenistan gave an address to the forum participants during a plenary session taken place in the Palace of Congress.
Speaking about significance of the forum, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that today given the existing global problems it was of particular significance to develop a system of collaboration, where the level of belief and partnership was supported by institutional and legal forms for achieving peace and harmony. According to the Turkmen leader it is the culture, a core of the social progress that plays a special role in the integration processes.
The solemn ceremony of awarding the Bitaraplyk Order, one of the highest state awards of Turkmenistan, to Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin for the outstanding contribution in the sphere of economy, culture and international relations took place within the framework of the plenary session. The Turkmen leader also awarded the Ruhubelent Order (High Spirituality) to Chairperson of the Management Council of multitier programme on Spiritual and Moral Culture of Younger Generation of Russia Svetlana Medvedeva.
Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin conveyed the welcoming address to the forum participants on behalf of President of the Russian Federation V. Putin.
Greeting the forum participants on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Sergey Lebedev expressed with satisfaction that with every passing year this humanitarian action had strengthened its role and authority, gathered the best representatives of the intellectual and creative elite of our countries.
Then the solemn ceremony of awarding diplomas to the winners of the “Commonwealth of Debuts” Prize established by the Council for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States and the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund of CIS Member States took place.
In the afternoon, the work of the VII CIS Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia continued in seven core sections, where the forum participants had an opportunity to discuss the issues of preserving and developing the humanitarian potential, the diversity of national cultures, material and spiritual heritage in modern conditions, establishment of multichannel data communication, etc.
