President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister for Transport of the Republic of Latvia Mr. Aivis Ronis, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to discuss the opportunities for implementation of joint projects.
During the meeting the President of Turkmenistan and his guest discussed a wide spectrum of issues of the intergovernmental cooperation that successfully develops at the bilateral and multilateral basis, first of all within the framework of collaboration with the Baltic States, as well as the constructive dialogue established with the European Union, including Latvia.
Speaking about the Latvia’s interest in the steady increase of the partnership with Turkmenistan, the Minister for Transport of the Republic of Latvia called for enhancing and widening business relations in the transport and communications industry that will allow strengthening relations in the trading, economic, fuel and energy spheres, a number of industrial areas as well as humanitarian and cultural sector.
Particular attention was paid to the prospects of cooperation in the sphere of development of the transport and tourist sphere, including port infrastructure. As is known, Turkmenistan possessing its sea gates on the Caspian coast pays significant attention to improvement of the sea port infrastructure.
