President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov completed the official visit to the Republic of Armenia
During the final meeting taken place at the Palace of the President of Armenis, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan highly appreciated the outcomes of the top level talks and expressed the confidence in further successful development of the fruitful cooperation. It was noted that Turkmenistan and Armenia considered this visit of the President of Turkmenistan as an important contribution to strengthening the bilateral cooperation and a reliable foundation for the further joint activity on enhancing and intensifying the intergovernmental relations in the political, trading and economic, scientific and technological, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Then the official ceremony of bidding farewell to the distinguished Turkmen guest took place. The leaders of the two states headed to the special place. The National Anthems of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia sounded.
Upon completion of the ceremony, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan expressed the best wishes of peace, happiness and wellbeing to the peoples of the fraternal states.
The President of Turkmenistan saw the historical and cultural sights nearby the capital of Armenia visiting the Argavand settlement, where a unique architectural monument – the Mausoleum of Turkmen emirs is located.
The President of Turkmenistan also visited the Saint Echmiadzin Monastery and Echmiadzin Cathedral in the city of Vagarshapat. The Turkmen leader met with Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II. The cultural and humanitarian issues were discussed during the meeting. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined that the tolerance and respectful treatment of the representatives of other confessions was one of the main features of the national character of Turkmens who highly appreciated the universal virtues and postulates.
Then the cortege of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov headed to the Zvartnots International Airport in Erevan where the ceremony of bidding farewell to the leader of Turkmen state took place. Thanking President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the visit that laid a solid foundation for further fruitful cooperation, the President of Armenia wished the Turkmen leader happy journey.
In the afternoon, the Turkmen President’s airliner landed at the Ashgabat International Airport.
As is known, the top level Turkmen-Armenian talks were successfully held in Erevan. The agreements on a wide spectrum of areas were achieved based on the talks. As was reported, the ceremony of conferring the title of Honorary Doctor of the Erevan State University to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took place at the University.
On the eve of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Erevan, on instruction of the Turkmen leader, the members of the Governmental delegation of our country held a number of meetings and consultations with the heads of ministries, departments and large state structures of Armenia. The agenda of the meetings focused on the issues of developing the bilateral cooperation.
