Cultural heritage in memory of people

Today, scientific-practical conference “Cultural heritage in memory of people” organized by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and National Management for protection, study and restoration of historical and cultural monuments was held in the conference hall of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture. Researchers from humanitarian academic institutes and higher educational establishments of the country, state historic-cultural nature reserves from all provinces, postgraduates and students took part in the forum. The representatives of the Parliament, social organizations, and mass media also participated in the forum. Further, the work of conference continued in three sections, which meetings were held in the conference halls of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture, Fine Arts Museum and State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan.

The contributors touched upon a series of topics of modern historical science, art history, history of architecture and town building, appreciated the activity of archeological expeditions, which carry out their investigation on the Turkmen land. The contributors paid particular attention to interdisciplinary approach in study of spiritual and material culture as well as methods of historical urbanization, comparative analysis of written sources and architectural data. Information devoted to the sources of cultural traditions, which are in the deep stratums of civilization – in bronze epoch, when the first cities have emerged, in the time of Parthian-Sasanids, when it was formed the settlements, which became the foundation of cities of future historical period – such as Merv, Gurgench, Serahs, Nisa, Abiverd, Amul, Sherislam and others.

At the final plenary meeting, the participants of scientific-practical conference noted that this conference revealed high scientific potential of national personnel – archeologists, historians of architecture, art historians, ethnographers and other specialists in humanitarian fields.
