The Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the fourth convocation held its seventeenth session. The agenda focused on a number of documents, new laws and statutory and legal acts drafted in line with the priorities of the state policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and a number of organizational issues. Among the documents under discussions were the draft Laws of Turkmenistan “On State Service on Security of Healthy Society of Turkmenistan and “On mass media”.
In this session the parliamentarians considered draft laws “On insurance”, “On the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan”, the acts on introduction of changes and additions to the Civil Code, the Code of criminal procedure of Turkmenistan, the Laws “On the State Security Council of Turkmenistan”, “On defence”, “On military service”, “On operative crime detection activities”, “On control of terrorism”, “On assistance to persons addicted to alcohol, drugs and psychotropic substances”, “On drugs, psychotropic substances, precursors and the measures to prevent their illicit traffic” as well as the Family Code of Turkmenistan and the Law “On hydrocarbon resources”.
Among the key tasks set to the National Parliament is ratification of international documents. A number of other draft legislations were considered in this session, including the draft resolutions of the Mejlis “On ratification of the Protocol of regional readiness, response and cooperation in case of incidents due to oil pollution to the Framework Convention on the marine environment of the Caspian Sea” and “On ratification of amendments and additions to the Articles of the International Monetary Fund Agreement”.
