President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired an enlarged meeting of the State Sectary Council to sum up the work done by the military and law enforcement agencies in 2012 and specify the important tasks set to them for the near future.
The enlarged meeting of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan dedicated to the 21st anniversary of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan took place at the Main Department of Civil Defence and Rescue Operations of the Ministry of Defence of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen leader congratulated all those present on the Day of the Defenders of the Motherland celebrated annually on January 27. Within the framework of the meeting, the heads of the military and law enforcement agencies reported on the existing situation in the spheres under their supervision and the work done within the last year given the Turkmen leader’s instructions.
In particular, it was reported on the progress in implementing the military reform aimed at strengthening the power and defence capacity of the National Army. It was also reported on the measures taken with the aim to support the most favourable conditions for creative, inspired labour and peaceful life of the cohesive people of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen leader was informed on the existing situation at the State Border of Turkmenistan, the preparations for the celebration of the Day of the Defenders of the Motherland, the large-scale work carried out in the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan, the supervision exercised by the public prosecution bodies over the close adherence to legality in the state and society. It was also reported on the measures taken with the aim to keep law and order and crime prevention, on the progress in implementing the legal reform as well as organization of certification of all specialists of the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen leader was informed on the work of the Customs Service, the measures taken to prevent illicit trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances, to treat drug dependents and promote healthy life style. It was reported on the steps taken to ensure more efficient work of the Migration Service of Turkmenistan with regard to widen international cooperation.
The President of Turkmenistan signed a number of documents, including the Resolution appointing A. Yalkanov the Head of the Khazar Sea border unit, and the Resolution on construction of a new administrative building of the State Border Service and the Border Institute. The President of Turkmenistan signed the Decree conferring the rank of major general to B. Gundogdyev.
The President of Turkmenistan appointed lieutenant colonel A. Chopanov Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, K. Myradov – the Head of the Dashoguz Velayat Police Department, B. Muhamedov – the Deputy of Minister of Justice.
Commenting on the reports, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted Turkmenistan would continue carrying out the successive and purposeful work to enhance the legislative, material and technical basis of the security, defence and law enforcement agencies, increase the military and patriotic education and professional qualification of servicemen and military specialists, improve the service and living conditions demonstrating its adherence to the Military Doctrine of Turkmenistan that is purely peaceful and defensive in its nature.
Within the framework of the meeting, the Turkmen leader gave a number of specific instructions to the heads of the military and law enforcement agencies of Turkmenistan.
Congratulating once again all those present on the Day of the Defenders of the Motherland, the Turkmen leader invited the meeting participants to the festive concert in the Officers’ Centre of the Ministry of Defence of Turkmenistan.
