President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a video videoconference with the cabinet ministers and the khyakims of the regions and Ashgabat.
The agenda focused on the progress in implementing the social and economic development strategy and the national programmes.
The heads of the regional administration reported on the current situation in the regions, the progress of agricultural activities, the preparations of agricultural fields and machines for the cotton campaign and the measures taken to implement the agro-industry development programme. The information on the opening ceremonies of important social and economic facilities built recently in Lebap Velayat and the celebrations in honour of the International Novruz Day was presented.
The Ashgabat Khyakim reported on the measures taken to implement the urban planning programme, develop new architectural projects that would beautify the city, improve power supply efficiency and modernize city roads.
The reports on the progress of construction work in the country, the measures taken to improve the quality and increase production of domestic building materials, the implementation of the state social policy and the national programmes aimed at promoting science, education, healthcare, sports and tourism were presented. Commenting on the reports, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said preparations of agricultural machines for the sowing campaign in Ahal Velayat were being carried out not in a proper manner and demanded that the Ahal Velayat Khyakim pay particular attention to this work.
Instructing the Balkan Velayat Khyakim to keep land distribution for sowing cotton under strict control, the President focused on the personal responsibility of etrap khyakims for carrying out the work in the regions.
The President also instructed to intensify preparations for the International Novruz Day celebrations which would take place in one of the most picturesque parts of Ahal Velayat.
Instructing to keep the quality of construction and adherence to construction schedule under strict control, the President emphasized the need to enhance the effectiveness of the measures taken to develop housing infrastructure and ensure effective functioning of the urban social sphere.
The Turkmen leader said road junctions under construction in Ashgabat as a piece of monument art should blend well with the picturesque urban landscape, beautify and make the architectural ensemble of the white-marble capital unique.
Noting that such spheres as science, education, healthcare, sports and tourism played a critical role in the life of the country and the tasks set to these sectors should be fulfilled, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov demanded that all the issues related to the implementation of the national programmes in these priority spheres be kept under strict control.
Summing up the working meeting, the Turkmen leader emphasized once again that consistent implementation of the society-oriented programmes would contribute to enhancing the economic strength of the country and guaranteeing a prosperous and happy life to its citizens.
