The Turkmen-Ukrainian top level talks are to take place in Ashgabat today. President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich arrived to the Turkmen capital for a state visit to participate in summit talks.
It should be noted that as of today Turkmenistan and Ukraine have signed 120 documents at different levels – interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental; the embassies of the two countries have been established under bilateral agreements and effectively work; the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Ukraine Commission for economic cooperation has been established; the large-scale joint projects, including the construction of industrial and infrastructure facilities, are being implemented. This is vividly evidenced by the Resolutions of the President of Turkmenistan that authorizes the largest Ukrainian company, the Road Construction Altkom Ltd. to design and build a number of transportation infrastructure facilities, including the international airport in Turkmenabat and the railway and highway bridges across the Amudarya between Turkmenabat and Farab in Lebap Velayat.
At the stage of preparation for summit talks in Ashgabat, the members of the working groups of the two countries expressed belief that top level talks would give a new impetus to foster the interstate dialogue, particular within the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) that Ukraine was presiding over in the current year.
