President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of United Arab Emirates Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who had arrived in our country for a state visit, held talks in Ashgabat.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived at the Ashgabat International airport to welcome the welcome the distinguished guest that vividly evidenced the high level of confidence of the traditionally fraternal interstate relations.
The cortege of the leaders of the two states headed to Oguzkhan presidential palace complex, where the official ceremony of greeting the high-ranking guest took place. The one-to-one talks took place in the Golden Hall in the Oguzkhan presidential palace complex.
Then the delegations of Turkmenistan and United Arab Emirates joined in the talks which took place in the Sultan Sanjar Hall. The ceremony of signing bilateral documents including the Programme on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates for 2013 as well as Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on cooperation in the sphere of standardization, metrology, certification and accreditaion took place after the talks. The Joint Communiqué was signed summing up the official visit of President of United Arab Emirates Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Turkmenistan.
The prospects of further bilateral cooperation were discussed during the talks with the members of the delegations of the two countries.
The United Arab Emirates is one of the largest partners of Turkmenistan in the trade and economic sphere. Since 2006, the volume of bilateral trade between the two states has risen four times and made up US$ 1.423 billion in 2012. As compare to 2011, last year the trade turnover increased up to 59 percent. Thus, the United Arab Emirates occupies the sixth place in the total volume of the Turkmenistan commodity circulation.
54 enterprises of the United Arab Emirates have registered in Turkmenistan as of January, 2013. The companies implemented 96 projects totaled to 5.274 billion Euro and two million manats. Underlining the increasing interest of the financial and business circles of the United Arab Emirates in the large-scale projects implemented in our country, the President of Turkmenistan confirmed the intention to maintain and enhance relations in this sphere.
As of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian area, the fraternal and friendly relations between our peoples and states are based on the common historical and cultural ties. Within the last years, the close cooperation in this sphere has significantly increased and gained new content enriching relations in such fields as education, science, culture, healthcare, sport and tourism.
The Joint committee will be established within the framework of the Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates working commission on cooperation in the sphere of education, science and culture and its first meeting will be held in Ashgabat in the first half of the current year.
With the aim to make the peoples of our countries spiritually close to each other, to develop humanitarian relations, it is planned to hold the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the United Arab Emirates this year, and the Days of Culture of the United Arab Emirates in Turkmenistan in 2014.
