President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Commerce and Industry of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, who had arrived leading the government delegation of his country in Ashgabat to participate in the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Saudi Arabia Commission for trade and economic cooperation.

During the meeting the Turkmen leader and his guest exchanged views on the prospects of bilateral cooperation in priority areas putting emphasis on the intensive development of trade and economic and humanitarian and cultural relations.

Focusing on the willingness of the business circles of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to expand on the promising Turkmen market, the Minister emphasized it was conditioned by the tremendous resource and economic potential of Turkmenistan that demonstrated the high growth rates as well as the favourable investment climate in the country.

Turkmenistan’s experience in developing textile industry that could be used in Saudi Arabia was emphasized particularly. The key areas of cooperation also included the high-tech chemical industry.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Turkmenistan Turki bin Khalid bin Faisal Al-Hash attended the meeting.
