President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Mr. Knut Vollebaek, who had arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
During the meeting the President of Turkmenistan and the OSCE High Commissioner discussed the prospects of long-term fruitful cooperation in a wide spectrum of areas, including cooperation in the political, economic, environmental and human dimensions. A focus of the meeting was the situation in the Central Asian region and in particular the situation in neighboring Afghanistan that Turkmenistan had been providing significant assistance and support for all these years.
The OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities stated that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe highly evaluated and fully supported the Turkmen leader’s balanced foreign policy that stood today as an essential factor for peace and stability in the region and his society-oriented domestic policy.

On that day the guest was received at the Mejlis and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where an exchange of views on the current state and prospects of Turkmenistan-OSCE cooperation in all key areas of mutual interest took place.
