The Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the fourth convocation held the eighteenth session, during which a number of draft laws and statutory acts were considered. The heads of the ministries and departments concerned and mass media representatives were invited to attend the session.

The deputies drafted the Law of Turkmenistan on the Adoption and Enforcement of the Housing Code of Turkmenistan that reflected the new level of legal relationships in exercising the guaranteed right of citizens to housing, the new forms of the acquisition of ondividual owenership of of housing. Moreover, this document legislatively secures the new rules of management and use of apartment houses and territories adjacent to them.

The main aim of the Housing Code is to ensure that citizens exercise the right vested by the Constitution of Turkmenistan to receive the state support to obtain and buy well-appointed housing and freely transfer their housing rights in their interests and at their own discretion, promote competition of works and services in the housing market and ensure legal protection of the housing and related rights and interests of the subjects of housing legal relations.

The draft Law of Turkmenistan on Wildlife was considered during the parliamentary session. The new law regulates relationships in the protection and use of wildlife and its habitat in order to ensure biological diversity and sustained use of its components, create the favourable conditions for wildlife and conserve the gene pool of wild animals and other protection of wildlife.

The draft Law of Turkmenistan on Motor Roads and Road Transport Activities were considered during the parliamentary session. This law is aimed at facilitating the adoption of advanced technologies and standards in this sphere and integration of motor roads into the international transport network, improving the investment climate in the field of the use of motor roads and road transport activities, ensuring the safety and development of motor roads, improving the technical conditions of motor roads and promoting effective and fair competition when conducting road transport activities.

The draft laws presented for consideration during the parliamentary session included the Law of Turkmenistan on Motor Transport. This Law regulates relationships that arise when organizing and providing road transport services and when carrying out (rendering) works (services) related to transportation.

The draft Law of Turkmenistan on the Amendments and Additions to the Tax Code of Turkmenistan and the draft Resolutions of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on the Ratification of the Convention between Turkmenistan and the Swiss Confederation on the avoidance of double taxation with respect to income and capital taxes and on the Plan of the Legislative Activities of the Mejlis Turkmenistan for 2013 were considered during the parliamentary session.

The deputies of the Mejlis approved and unanimously passed the draft laws. They will expand the regulatory framework of Turkmenistan.
