A telephone conversation between leaders of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko had a telephone conversation.

Cordially greeting each other, the two leaders noted with satisfaction that Turkmen-Belarusian relations based on a firm foundation of friendship and equal and mutually beneficial cooperation steadily developed.

During the conversation the President of Turkmenistan and the President of Republic of Belarus specified key areas of intergovernmental partnership. Focusing on the progress in implementing bilateral agreements, the sides highly evaluated the level and results of long-term cooperation cemented with a number of ambitious joint projects, including the large industrial facility - the ore-dressing and processing plant producing potash fertiliser under construction in Garlyk potash field in Lebap Velayat.

An illustration of successful cooperation is long-term bilateral relations in the delivery of agricultural equipment proven to be effective in soil and climatic conditions of Turkmenistan as well as fruitful cooperation in other spheres. Noting that there were ample opportunities to step up trade and economic partnership, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Aleksander Lukashenko called for further enhancement of effective contacts in the whole spectrum of areas.

During the conversation the two leaders also paid particular attention to humanitarian cooperation as an integral part of interstate relations. In this context, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Aleksander Lukashenko emphasized with satisfaction the effectiveness of Turkmen-Belarusian cooperation in qualified specialist training and reaffirmed that Turkmenistan and Belarus stood ready to build up productive contacts in education and science. The sides also focused on the importance of strengthening traditional cultural contacts that had been given a new impetus and filled with a new content in recent years.

During the conversation the sides exchanged views on a number of issues of regional and international politics of mutual interest.

The Turkmen leader invited the President of the Republic of Belarus to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. The dates of a visit will be adjusted through diplomatic channels.

Upon concluding the telephone conversation, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko exchanged best wishes to the Turkmen and Belarusian peoples and expressed belief that traditionally friendly relations between the two nations would develop successfully for the common benefit.
