Manuscripts – primary source for study of national heritage

International Scientific Conference “Manuscripts – primary source for study of national heritage” organized by the National Institute of Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan has started its work in Ashgabat.

Conference timed to the 20th anniversary of the National Institute of Manuscripts gathered the scientists from nearly 40 world countries. Solemn opening of the International scientific Conference was held in the conference hall of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture.


Significance of the International Scientific Forum was also underlined in the presentations at the plenary session of the representative scientific circles from the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and France. The contributors took up the vital issues of interaction in study and preservation of the manuscript heritage of the people of the world. In the reports, it was also presented the results of joint researches related to the restoration and study of ancient manuscripts and archival materials, including by means of up-to-date technologies.


In the second half of the day, the work of conference continued in five scientific sections, where it was discussed vital issues of study and preservation of manuscript sources, prospects of international cooperation in this trend.
