President of Turkmenistan conducts a videoconference

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a working videoconference meeting with the Vice Premier, velayat khyakims and heads of the ministries and departments concerned.

A focus of discussion was the progress in implementing the social and economic strategy and the major state programmes, in particular the key objectives of developing industrial infrastructure in the regions of the country. The participants reported on the current situation in the sectors under supervision and the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader's instructions.

In particular, the reports focused on the current situation in the agricultural sector and the progress of the cotton campaign. It was reported that a new health centre had been put into operation in Serahs Etrap in Ahal Velayat and preparations for the celebrations in honour of the remarkable dates in Balkan Velayat were being carried out. The Turkmen leader was informed about the measures taken to develop the agricultural products processing industry and other sectors in Lebap Velayat.

Chairman of the Supreme Chamber of Inspection B. Atdaev reported on the results of the analytical work done in a number of spheres and Minister of Road Transport M. Gurbandurdyev reported on the current situation in the sector.

Focusing on the need to develop a diversified network of healthcare institutions in Ahal Velayat, the President emphasized that a major aspect of this work was to enhance access to quality medical assistance for rural citizens. In this regard, the Turkmen leader instructed Vice Premier S. Toilyev to donate an ambulance to the new health centre in Serahs Etrap.

Focusing on the need to take an integrated approach to implementing the Balkan Velayat development programme, the President emphasized the importance of using efficiently local resources of the region that has the tremendous economic, tourism and recreational potential. In this context, the President noted that the balanced development of all the industries in the region must be combined with well thought-out measures to preserve favourable environmental conditions and demanded that particular attention should be paid to these issues, including arrangement of green areas.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the concern for the people's welfare should be the guideline for the heads of the local administration. In this context, the Turkmen leader instructed the Dashoguz Velayat Khyakim to enhance effectiveness of the measures taken. The Turkmen leader demanded that planting and beautification activities in the region should be held properly.

Demanding that the quality of construction works and compliance with contractual commitments on the construction of facilities that would play a critical role in promoting economic growth of the region as well as the country should be monitored, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that facilities must be put into operation according to schedule.

Commenting on the report of the Mary Velayat Khyakim, the President instructed to take measures aimed at optimizing agro-technical and water supply activities, along with carrying out the spring cotton campaign. The Turkmen leader focused on the development of social infrastructure of the region, noting that the use of investment in this sphere should be consistent and sustainable. Also, the Turkmen leader said an ambulance would be donated to a new health centre in Yoloten Etrap.

Emphasizing that further measures to facilitate social and economic development of the country should be taken, the President instructed the Chairman of the Supreme Chamber of Inspection to conduct inspections of the implementation of a number of sectoral development programmes.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reprimanded severely the Minister of Road Transport, expressing dissatisfaction at his failure to effectively organize and manage the activities of the subdivisions, and instructed him to take a responsible approach to effectively organize the work on optimization of activities of transport enterprises.

In the conclusion the President focused on the need for a responsible approach to achieve the objectives of promoting social and economic growth of the country and the welfare of Turkmen citizens.
