President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip round the capital to see the progress of construction work in the Olympic Village and considered the projects of new large facilities being built by Turkish Polimeks, one of Turkmenistan’s long-term partners in the urban development sector.
The projects presented to the President for consideration included the three-storey building of an indoor velodrome with stands for 6,000 spectators, a cycle track 250 metres long and 7.10 metres wide, an indoor arena with small gyms for wrestling, boxing, weightlifting, judo and taekwondo trainings, a large 3,000-seat gym designed for rhythmic gymnastics, calisthenics, basketball, handball, volleyball, fencing, badminton and table tennis. Also, the President considered the projects of large and small gyms and the samples of sports field covers designed for competitions in various sports.
The project of a health centre to be built in the Olympic Village was presented to the President for consideration. A doping control centre will be built nearby the health centre. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov considered the draft designs of a luxury hotel for 800 visitors and a complex of hotels for athletes who would arrive in the Turkmen capital to participate in the 2017 Asian Games.
In general, there will be over 30 sports and other facilities in the Olympic Village, the project of which includes three construction phases. The pace of construction work inspires confidence that all new facilities will meet the high quality standards and be put into operation in a timely manner.
The Turkmen leader visited the construction site of a high-class hotel for 800 visitors. After reviewing the progress of construction work and noting the quality of work and building materials, the President signed a number of documents that guaranteed payment for work performed.
The draft designs of the emblem (logotype) of the 2017 Asian Games were presented to the President for consideration. Noting that the emblem should reflect the spirit of the nation as well as the high creative spirit of the new historical epoch, the President emphasized the need to revise it and gave specific instructions to Vice Premier S. Toilyev and Chairman of the State Committee for Sports B. Orazov.
