President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, who had arrived in Ashgabat leading an official delegation of his country.
The Turkmen leader and his guest exchanged views on priority aspects of bilateral relations. In this context, the prospects for deepening and enhancing Turkmen-Russian cooperation in a number of key areas, including the trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian sectors, were discussed.
The sides also noted that bilateral political consultations held between the foreign ministries of the two countries on a regular basis contributed to fostering the Turkmen-Russian dialogue.
Other important issues of Turkmen-Russian partnership developing successfully on a bi- and multi-lateral basis within the authoritative regional and international organisations and institutions, including the UN and the CIS, were discussed during the meeting.
