The French Language and Francophone Week has been launched in Ashgabat. The cultural action organized by the Embassy of the French Republic in Turkmenistan with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan is held to mark the International Francophone Day - the festival of meetings and communication in the language of the nation who made a tremendous contribution to the treasury of world civilization celebrated each year in many countries worldwide.

The cultural action began with the art contests for young Turkmen citizens who speak French and are willing to demonstrate their talents in poetry, singing and theatre arts. Participants are students of the French Cultural Centre in Ashgabat. The prize for the winners in these nominations is a trip to France. The presentations and the ceremony of donating educational materials, including those in the electronic format, to Turkmen students and schoolchildren who study French were held.

The educational exhibitions entitled "Tell Me Ten Most Common Words" composed of 12 pictures that convey the richness and expressiveness of the French language through texts, quotations and illustrations will take place at Magtymguly Turkmen State University and D. Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages during the French Language and Francophone Week.

The production Emma's Ghost based on G. Flaubert's Madame Bovary will be a bright event of the Week. The production will be presented to the Turkmen audience by the guests of our country, the troupe of Soleil folk theatre at the Turkmen State Institute of Culture. The French artists are going to deliver master classes to students of the Institute.
