President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Viktor Maiko, who had arrived in Ashgabat to discuss the issues of international cooperation.
Exchanging views on the current state and prospects of Turkmen-Ukrainian cooperation, the President and his guest emphasized with satisfaction that the multifaceted dialogue had been fostered in the interests of the two nations in recent years. It was noted that the solid legal and regulatory framework of mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres vividly illustrated their commitment to close and fruitful partnership.
Highly evaluating the contribution of Ukrainian partners to implementing the projects in the fuel and energy, transport, urban planning and other basic sectors of the national economy, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed belief that Ukrainian companies would continue to take an active part in the implementation of the large-scale national programmes.
A focus of talks was the measures taken to further deepen interstate contacts in the humanitarian field, particularly in science, culture and education.
In conclusion of the meeting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Viktor Maiko presented the second volume of the book “Medicinal Herbs of Turkmenistan” by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov published in the Ukrainian language to the Turkmen leader.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Turkmenistan Valentin Shevalev attended the meeting.
