President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held an enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers to consider economic growth for the first quarter of current year and the tasks to be fulfilled in the near future.
The Vice Premiers reported on the current situation in the sectors under supervision.
It was noted that the production growth rate made up 112.1 percent as compared to the same period of 2012. During the reporting period retail trade increased to 119.7 percent. The foreign trade turnover amounted to US$ 5.421,3, or increased to 102 percent as compared to the same period of 2012.
In the first quarter of the current year the key financial document - the State budget, wages, pensions, state benefits and student scholarships were funded in full and in a timely manner. During the reporting period the volume of used investment from all the financing sources increased.
It was reported that during the reporting period the high growth rates were observed in nearly all the industries. In the first quarter of the current year production of cotton increased to 110 percent, iodine - 104 percent, gasoline - 101.8 percent, diesel fuel - 100.5 percent, kerosene - 100.1 percent, liquefied gas - 107.3 percent, lubricants - 106 per cent, fuel oil - 103.6 percent, polypropylene - 102.3 percent, plastic and fibreglass pipes - 109.4 percent, reinforcement and other iron materials - 122.3 per cent, non-metallic building materials - 111 percent, cement - 169 percent.
The positive trends were observed in the agricultural sector. Production of agricultural products, in particular meat, milk, eggs and vegetables, increased as compared to the same period of 2012.
Speaking about the achievements in the construction sector, the Chairman of the State Statistics Committee reported that the volume of construction work performed in January and February of 2013 increased by 22.3 percent as compared to the same period of 2012.
The volume of freight traffic of all the modes of transport increased to 110.6 percent, and the volume of passenger traffic – 105.4 percent. The revenue from communications services rendered to the population increased by 23.2 percent as compared to the same period of 2012.

During the reporting period more than 74.3 percent of the budgetary funds were used in the social sphere. The revenue of the local budget made up 114.1 percent and the expenditure - 94.7 percent.
the National Programme of the President of Turkmenistan on the improvement of the social and living conditions in villages, settlements, towns in etraps and etrap centres for the period until 2020 the volume of used investment from all the financing sources amounted to 36.7 percent of annual plan in the first quarter of the current year, or increased by 84.5 percent as compared to the same period of 2012. Currently, 513 social and cultural facilities are under construction that is as much as 1.5 times as compared to the same period of 2012. The Minister reported that the construction of 30 facilities had completed in the first quarter of 2013.
Other issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the government meeting. Commenting on the reports, the Turkmen leader gave the Vice Premiers specific instructions on the further development of the sectors under supervision.
