President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Tikahito Harada who presented his credentials to the leader of the Turkmen state.
Thanking for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the diplomat congratulated the Turkmen leader on the 20th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan and conveyed the hearty greetings on behalf of Emperor of Japan Akihito, who had expressed belief that the interstate dialogue would be furthered in the interests of the two friendly nations. Taking an opportunity the plenipotentiary representative of the friendly country expressed gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the people of Turkmenistan for their brotherly assistance for Japan after the disastrous earthquake in March this year. The guest said the Japanese people would remember that with gratitude.
Thanking for the kind words, the Turkmen leader expressed the best wishes to the Emperor’s family and emphasized that Turkmenistan was keenly interested in strengthening the ties of friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Japan as one of development countries of the world moving forward with confidence along the path of progress and prosperity. Congratulating the Japanese diploma on the accreditation to Turkmenistan, the President wished Mr. Tikahito Harada every success in performing his noble mission to step up the multifaceted interstate dialogue effectively promoted in the bi- and multi-lateral formats, within the major international organisations.
A substantive exchange of views on the whole spectrum of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation based on equality and mutual benefit took place during the meeting. The Turkmen leader emphasized that cooperation with the Land of the Rising Sun, which is one of the world’s biggest economies, met key foreign policy priorities of Turkmenistan. Noting with satisfaction that the keen mutual interest facilitated developing business partnerships, the Turkmen leader and his guest highly evaluated the role of the Turkmen-Japanese and the Japanese-Turkmen for economic cooperation and regular meetings at various levels that had become more frequent in recent years. The sides were unanimous that the official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan in 2009 which had gave a powerful impetus to the fruitful interstate dialogue was quite illustrative in this regard.
It was noted that joint projects implemented in collaboration with such well-known Japanese companies as Itochu Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, Kawasaki Plant Systems Ltd., Sojitz Corporation were illustrative evidence for the increasing interest of Japanese business in expanding on the promising Turkmen market where most-favoured nation treatment was guaranteed to foreign investment.
It was noted that mutual business interest of Turkmenistan and Japan was conditioned by the complementarity of the national economies of the two countries which had been maintaining the high pace of socio-economic development as well as the existing tremendous resource potential. The priority areas of cooperation include the trade and economic and fuel and energy sectors that Turkmenistan and Japan take consistent efforts to modernize. The sides were unanimous that a dominant of bilateral relations had been and was enhancement of humanitarian contact which promoted mutual understanding and confidence between the two friendly peoples.
