The festivities on occasion of the Turkmen Horse Day and the ceremony of awarding the winners of the International beauty contest among Ahalteke horses and the art contest for the depiction of Ahalteke took place at the Ahalteke Equestrian Sports Complex with participation of the President of Turkmenistan.
The festively decorated Ahalteke Equestrian Sports Complex located in the picturesque foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains greeted the participants and guests to the holiday. The cabinet ministers, heads of the National Parliament, military and law-enforcement agencies, heads of the diplomatic representatives and missions accredited in our country, khyakims of Ashgabat and velayats, representatives of public organisations, journalists, the elders, participants of the III meeting of the International Ahalteke Horse Breeding Association The International Trade Fair, delegates of the V International Conference “Turkmen Horses and the World Art of Horse Breeding”, people of the Turkmen capital and Ahal Velayat, as well as numerous guests gathered together at the Ahalteke Equestrian Sports Complex to take part in the festivities.
Under the storm of applause President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov headed to the Ahalteke Equestrian Sports Complex.
On behalf of Khyakims of Ashgabat and velayats, Vice Premiers, military and law-enforcement agencies beautiful Ahalteke horses were presented to the President of Turkmenistan as a token of deep gratitude for the Turkmen leader’s concern about development of the horse breeding industry and popularization of ‘heavenly horses’ all around the world.
Saddling up the horse under the storm of applause, the Turkmen leader took a lap of honour. Executing all commands, Bagtyyar bowed to the admired spectators, who watched the show with unconcealed pleasure.
Saddling up another beautiful horse - Akhan, the Turkmen leader demonstrated the great skills of horse riding, when a horse and rider understand and feel each other.
Riding in vanguard of the column of horsemen including horse subdivisions of the military units of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan as well as a group of dzhigits, the President of Turkmenistan opened the horse parade.
Another bright event of the festivities at the Ahalteke Equestrian Sports Complex was a fascinating show performed by the Galkynys equestrian sports group. The daring dzhigits presented the most difficult and spectacular tricks of the national equestrian games which require outstanding technique and the ability to understand and feel the horse.
Then the final round of the International Beauty Contest among Ahalteke horses took place.
Within the framework of the first rounds the jury estimated the composition, beauty, grace, breed characteristics qualities of the contestants paying particular attention to the harmony of movements and the ability to execute various commands. Summing up the qualification rounds of the contest, ten beautiful horses competed in the final.
The jury consisting of highly qualified horse breeders from Turkmenistan and foreign countries announced the winner. The President’s Prize and the Challenge Cup were awarded to a horse named Ahalteke.
On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, the main prizes were also awarded to the winners of the art contest for the depiction of Ahalteke horses in the works of fine, decorative and applied arts, printed publications, photographs and TV programmes. The annual art competition which serves as an effective tool for developing new forms of work in this sphere involved Turkmen painters, sculptors, graphic designers, carpet makers, photographers, jewellers, ceramic designers and publishing workers.
US$ 3,000 were awarded to the People’s Painter of Turkmenistan Ada Gutlyev for the most beautiful carpet; US$ 2,000 – to Arslanmyrat Sahedov for the most original horse trappings; US$ 1,500 – to the Head of Department of Graphic Arts of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan Parahat Gapanchyaev for the best painting; US$ 1,000 – to the People’s Sculptor of Turkmenistan Saragt Babaev; US$ 1,000 – to the creative group of the State News Agency of Turkmenistan for the best publishing project; US$ 1,000 – to the creative group of the Turkmen Ovazy TV Channel for the best video clip.
The festivities finished with a final song dedicated to a Turkmen horse. Its melody flies over the verdant spaces of the Kopetdag valley as good news about a new fate of Ahalteke horses, as a ringing glory of the best horses in the world.
