President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Director General of the International Organization for Migration Lacy Swing, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the international conference “Exchange of Best Practices between Eastern and Western Europe and Central Asia in the Development and Implementation of the National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking”.
The meeting focused on key aspects of partnership within the International Organization for Migration that works to ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need including refugees and displaced people. In this context, highlighting the role of Turkmenistan, whose status of neutrality served as an important factor in maintaining a positive political climate in the region, Mr. Lacy Swing emphasized IOM’s keen interest in building up traditional cooperation.
