President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which Turkmenistan’s social and economic development in January-April of the current year, a number of draft documents and other state policy issues were considered.
Before opening the meeting, the President congratulated those present and citizens of Turkmenistan on the 68th anniversary of the Great Victory in the 1941-1945 War. The Vice Premiers presented the reports during the government meeting. In particular, they reported that the macroeconomic indicators illustrated sustained economic development of Turkmenistan in the four months of the current year. The high performance indicators in the industrial and construction sectors ensured the steady GDP growth rate as compared to the same period of 2012.
The volume of retail trade turnover increased – the growth rate amounted to 119.2 percent for four months. The plan of tax payment to the State budget was fulfilled during the reporting period. The revenues rose to 115.7 percent and the expenditures – to 95.5 percent. An average monthly wages increased by 10.6 percent as compared to the same period of 2012. Wages, welfare payments, pensions and scholarships were paid off in full. Investment from all sources of funding increased during the reporting period. The ministries and departments fulfilled the plan of currency earnings from exports of goods and services to 133.5 percent. The report on the preparations for a state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan scheduled for May 10-11 was presented. The Turkmen-Kazakh top-level talks are expected to result in signing a number of bilateral documents. The leaders of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan will attend the ceremony of opening the Turkmen-Kazakh section of the North-South transnational railway.
