President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip round the capital to see the progress in implementing the ambitious urban planning programme and a number of new construction projects.
In particular, the plans to join the adjacent areas to Archabil district in Ashgabat and form two new districts – Ruhabat and Abadan were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.
The draft designs and layouts of new power plants to be built in Ashgabat were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration. The facilities will be built in the south of the city using advanced technologies, in particular the effective method of laying underground cables.
The draft designs of a park – the green zone with an area of about 800,000 square metres stretching from the Monument to the Constitution to the Alem cultural and entertainment centre were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration. The project provides for construction of cafes, pavilions, fountains, water canals and cascades, picnic grounds and places for leisure activities, sculptural compositions and other attributes of landscape architecture in the green zone.
The draft designs and projects for improvement and modernization of highways in the Turkmen capital were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration. Dwelling upon the issues relating to modernization and development of urban transport infrastructure, the Turkmen leader focused on the importance of ensuring the quality of road construction in Ashgabat and maintaining city roads in a proper manner.
In this context, the Turkmen leader gave the instructions to the Ashgabat Khyakim to take necessary measures to download the information on the capital, its map, roads, traffic signs and rules in netbooks given to first formers throughout the country.

After thoroughly considering the projects, the Turkmen leader emphasized once again that new facilities and buildings in the Turkmen capital should blend well with the architectural ensemble of the city and gave specific instructions to the high-ranking officials to monitor that work.
