The military tactical exercises Galkan-2013 were conducted in Kelyata in Turkmenistan on the eve of the 68th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The theatre of operations was the territory of the Kelyata training centre of the Ministry of Defence located in Baharly Etrap, Ahal Velayat. The President of Turkmenistan arrived by helicopter in the morning. The Turkmen leader lifted to the second floor of the command post of the Kelyata training centre of the Ministry of Defence.
Nearly all the troops of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan, including artillery, aviation, infantry, anti-aircraft and special forces, are involved in the military tactical exercises conducted by the Ministry of Defence each spring.
The military tactical exercises Galkan-2013 were conducted in three stages. At the first stage the government troops were to mount a counterattack against the conditional adversary and seize weapon emplacement 337 – the territories Yaraji and Mehinsuv it was occupying; at the second stage our troops were to repulse an attack of the conditional adversary and make it suffer great losses; at the third stage our troops were to force the conditional adversary to surrender and take measures to restore the combat capability of our army and the integrity of the state border.
The armed forces of our country accomplish the purpose of the military tactical exercises and demonstrated the high level of combat training and skills of valiant soldiers who stand firm in the defence of peace and security of our country. A number of episodes of the military tactical exercises Hazar-2013 involving the combat units of the Navy, which were taking place on the Caspian Sea coast, were demonstrated to those present.
After the military tactical exercises were completed, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sincerely thanked military servants for their professionalism and perfect combat skills and gave instructions to recommend those who had showed the best results in the military tactical exercises for a decoration.
The President visited an exhibition of military equipment and vehicles arranged on a special area. The exposition included World War II military weapon and vehicles, along with modern ones purchased for the national army on a regular basis. As is known, thanks to the unceasing concern of the Turkmen leader, the Government takes large-scale measures to strengthen and modernize the Armed Forces the arsenal of which has been replenished with state-of-the-art military and special equipment in recent years. Some of it was used during this year’s military tactical exercises, including the anti-aircraft complexes, such as Pechora-2M, OSA, C-125 and the attack aircrafts MiG-29 and SU-25.
Following the tradition, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov talked over a cup of tea to military servants and students, who had participated in the military tactical exercises, and the guests of honour – war veterans.
Congratulating war veterans on Victory Day, the Turkmen leader wished them good health, long life, happiness, peace and prosperity. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov talked to the military servants about the conditions of service and the plans for the future.
