President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the ceremony of laying flowers to the Memorial of Turkmen soldiers who fell on the field of battle in the 1941-1945 war.
Following the tradition, numerous citizens and guests of Ashgabat gathered together early in the morning at the Eternal Flame Memorial – the sacred place of military glory and nationwide mourning to commemorate those who died for the bright future of the present and future generations. War veterans and those who worked day and night on the home front bringing closer the long-awaited victory were the guests of honour to the Victory Day celebrations.
Expressing his gratitude to war veterans for their feat of arms and labour, the President emphasized that our solemn duty was to pass on the memory about those who had sacrificed their lives to gain the long-awaited victory to the future generations. The Turkmen leader noted that our gratitude to them was too great to be repaid, emphasizing that we must always remember about courage and heroism they had showed defending the Motherland.
A wreath of flowers from President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was laid to the obelisk with the Eternal Flame flaring as an imperishable symbol of the people’s memory. Following the Turkmen leader, war veterans, cabinet ministers, heads of the Mejlis, military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, public organisations, foreign diplomats, representatives of labour collectives, guests and citizens of Ashgabat laid flowers to the memorial, giving tribute to the heroes who fell in the 1941-1945 war. Those present observed a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of the valorous sons of the Turkmen land who had sacrificed their lives for the victory.
