President of Turkmenistan conducts a videoconference

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a working videoconference meeting with the Chairperson of the Mejlis, the cabinet ministers, the heads of the ministries concerned and the khyakims of Ashgabat and the regions.

The President emphasized the historic importance of the new direct rail route between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan which was put into operation last week. The Turkmen leader emphasized that the new railway section opened up ample opportunities for economic development, attraction of investment and creation thousands of new jobs.

The Turkmen leader noted that Turkmen railway builders were involved in implementing the ambitious project and said he was signing the Decree on the awarding of government awards and the conferring of honorary titles to the best specialists.

In this regard, the President instructed Chairperson of the Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva and Vice Premier A. Yegeleev to hold an awarding ceremony and present the awards and gifts to railway builders at the Mekan Palace in Ashgabat. The Turkmen leader instructed Vice Premier A. Yegeleev and Minister of Rail Transport B. Annameredov to launch preparations for the ceremony of laying foundation stone of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway which would be held this year. Chairperson of the Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva reported on ongoing activities of the Parliament and the results of the nineteenth parliamentary session. A. Nurberdyeva reported on preparations of the Parliament for Constitution Day and Day of Revival, Unity and Magtymguly’s Poetry, which are celebrated each year on May 18. Focusing on the crucial importance of new legislative acts, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the relevant laws. The Turkmen leader focused on the need to promote the basic provisions and principles of the Constitution of Turkmenistan.

Vice Premier A. Yegeleev reported on ongoing work in the sectors under his supervision and the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader’s instructions.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov asked about the progress in construction of housing, social, cultural and other facilities in new Garlyk settlement in Koitendag Etrap, Lebap Velayat. Noting that these facilities would be put into operation in July this year, the Turkmen leader instructed the Vice Premier to launch preparations for the opening ceremony of Garlyk settlement. Vice Premier B. Nurmyradov reported on preparations for the celebrations and other cultural events in honour of Day of Revival, Unity and Magtymguly’s Poetry. The celebrations will be held in Gerkez settlement in the Sumbar Valley – the homeland of Magtymguly Fragi. A Turkmen delegation will visit Golestan Province of the Islamic Republic of Iran to hold the festivities and make a pilgrimage to the tombs of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly and his father Dovletmamed Azadi. Ashgabat Khyakim R. Nurmammedov reported on the measures taken to improve the social and living conditions of citizens and preparations for the celebrations in honour of the remarkable dates.

Commenting on the report, the President focused on the need for consistent measures to beautify Ashgabat, create new green zones and modernize social infrastructure of the city.

The Velayat Khyakims reported on preparations for the harvest campaign and the summer school holidays. A number of construction projects to be implemented in the regions were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.

Emphasizing the critical importance of the harvest campaign, the President demanded that the Velayat Khyakims would carry out the work in a proper and timely manner. After thoroughly considering the construction projects, the Turkmen leader provided some remarks on them and instructed to announce the tenders. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave specific instructions to the Lebap Khyakim to prepare properly for the opening ceremonies of new facilities in Garlyk settlement and the measures to build Atamyrat-Ymamnazar railway. Minister of Agriculture R. Bazarov reported on the current situation in the sectors under his supervision and presented the draft Resolution on the Measures to Properly Hold the Harvest Campaign 2013 in Turkmenistan to the Turkmen leader for consideration.

Commenting on the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution and gave specific instructions on the implementation of the document.

Other issues were considered, and the decisions were adopted during the videoconference.
