A joint meeting of Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council

A joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council, during which current tasks, state policy issues and draft documents were considered, was held in the Ak Altyn assembly hall of the Oguzhan presidential palace complex. The high-ranking officials of a number of ministries and departments were invited to attend the meeting.

Opening the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated the participants on the upcoming holidays, Constitution Day and Day of Revival, Unity and Magtymguly’s Poetry. The Turkmen leader signed the Decree on a pardon to the convicted persons in honour of Day of Revival, Unity and Magtymguly’s Poetry. In this regard, specific instructions were given to the heads of the relevant agencies so that all the pardoned citizens could celebrate the holiday at home together with their families and relatives.

The Vice Premiers and the heads of a number of agencies presented the reports on preparations for the celebrations in honour of Constitution Day and Day of Revival, Unity and Magtymguly’s Poetry. These also included the International Conference “The Epoch of Might and Happiness: the National Experience in Building a Jural State” dedicated to the 21st anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of independent neutral Turkmenistan.

The information on the finds discovered by the International Turkmen-Russian archaeological expedition led by a honorary member of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, a Magtymguly Prize laureate Viktor Sarianidi during archaeological excavations on the monument of Gonur-depe was presented.

The information on preparatory work on the construction of a new production building of the wool processing factory in Mary and equipment with advanced technologies was presented. The report on preparations for the harvest campaign and agricultural activities in cotton fields was presented. A total of 1,882 combine harvesters will be involved in the agricultural campaign and 6,660 trucks will deliver wheat to the receiving points and grain elevators throughout the country.

The reports covered the progress in construction of the Bereket-Etrek section of the North-South railway and large facilities and reconstruction of enterprises of the Ministry of Industry, the measures taken to increase building materials manufacturing and implement the state social policy and the national programmes for the development of science, education, health, sports and tourism.

The information on the measures taken to increase oil production, including through re-equipment of fuel and energy enterprises and the progress in commercial development and construction of surface facilities in the Galkynysh gas field was presented.

The reports covered preparations for the IV International Gas Congress and the international exhibition which would be held in Ashgabat on 21-23 May. Commenting on the report, the President signed a number of documents, including the Resolution approving the procedure of calculation and payment of an additional payment for the work under special working conditions, the Resolution authorizing the Turkmenobahyzmat State Association to purchase spare parts, wheels, lubricants and consumables of John Deere and Case tractor-cultivators and cotton harvesters, the Resolution on the construction of an artificial runway and facilities in the Dashoguz airport, the Resolution on the construction of the flagpole in the Avaza national tourism zone and the Resolution on the purchase of over 193,000 netbooks for first formers of secondary schools in the country.

Other state policy issues were considered and the decisions were taken during the joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council of Turkmenistan.
