President of Turkmenistan conducts a videoconference

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a working videoconference meeting with the Vice Premiers and the khyakims of the regions and Ashgabat. The agenda focused on priority state policy issues and the progress in implementing the ongoing social and economic development programmes.

Opening the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov dwelt upon the adoption of the Resolution on Stable Energy Transit at the 82nd plenary meeting of the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly. This document was adopted on the initiative of Turkmenistan and with the unanimous support of UN member states. The good news had come to our country from the headquarters of the United Nations in New York on the eve of the 21st anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Turkmenistan and Day of Revival, Unity and Magtymguly’s Poetry.

Emphasizing that Turkmenistan welcomed the adoption of the above Resolution at the 67th session of the UN General Assembly, the President noted that the initiative of our country was aimed at sustainable development on regional and global level. Vice Premier B. Hojamuhammedov and Vice Premier, Director of the State Agency for Hydrocarbon Resources Management and Use under the President of Turkmenistan Ya. Kakaev reported on preparations for the IV International Gas Congress of Turkmenistan which would take place in Ashgabat on May 21.

Vice Premier, Executive Secretary of the Office of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan H. Muhammedov reported on preparations for the Turkmen Carpet Day celebrations, including the international exhibition and conference of the World Association of Connoisseurs of Turkmen Handmade Carpet Weaving.

Vice Premier S. Toilyev reported on the progress in implementing the state social policy and the national development programmes in science, education, health care, sports and tourism and preparations for school leaving parties which would be held throughout the country.

Vice Premier B. Nurmyradova reported on the measures taken to optimize activities in the sectors under her supervision and preparations for the Turkmen Carpet Day celebrations and school leaving parties.

Vice Premier A. Yazmyradov reported on the progress in seasonal agricultural activities. It was noted that preparations for the harvest campaign were being completed in all the regions. Land improvement activities on cotton fields and other agricultural activities continued.

The velayat khyakims reported on the current situation in the regions, the measures taken to accelerate preparations for the harvest campaign, ongoing land improvement activities in cotton fields and the work on processing silkworm cocoons. Commenting on the reports, the President approved the proposals of the velayat khyakims on the appointment of deputy velayat khyakims.

Ashgabat Khyakim R. Nurmammedov reported on the work carried out in the capital and preparations for the celebrations in Ashgabat to mark the national holidays. Summing up the meeting and focusing once again on the importance of the issues discussed, the President emphasized that the consistent implementation of the ambitious programmes of reforms launched throughout the country would contribute to enhancing economic strength of the country and ensuring a prosperous and happy life of Turkmen citizens.
