President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which state policy issues and draft documents were considered.
Before the meeting the Turkmen leader congratulated those present and the people and carpet makers of Turkmenistan on Turkmen Carpet Day.
The Vice Premiers reported on the measures taken to modernize carpet industry infrastructure, preparations for the Turkmen Carpet Day celebrations, including the International Conference “A Turkmen Carpet is the Soul of the Turkmen People” to be held by the Turkmenhaly State Association and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ashgabat and the XIII meeting of the World Society for the Connoisseurs of Turkmen Carpets.
The President was informed of preparations for a state visit of President of the Republic of Turkey Abdullah Gul scheduled May 29-31. It was noted that Turkmen-Turkish top-level talks to be held in Ashgabat would focus on priority aspects of a traditionally friendly intergovernmental dialogue. The talks were expected to result in signing bilateral documents that would strengthen the legal framework of Turkmen-Turkish partnership. The information on the measures taken to promote cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Federal Republic of Germany, a significant role in which was assigned to the Turkmenistan-Germany working group, was presented.
The information on the opening of social and cultural facilities and the cultural actions to be started on International Day for Protection of Children the following week was presented. The festivities will take place in the resort Geokdere and Hazar town in Balkan Velayat on June 1 where the opening ceremonies of two children’s recreational centres will be held. The information on preparations for the Days of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan which would be taking place in Turkmenistan from 1 to 3 June was presented. The report on seasonal agricultural activities throughout the country was presented. 1,882 combine harvesters and 6,660 trucks would be involved in the harvest campaign. Agricultural works on cotton fields throughout the country continued.
Commenting on the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov blessed the start of the harvest campaign in Ahal, Balkan, Mary and Lebap Velayat on June 1 and in Dashoguz Velayat on June 12.
The report on the draft 2014 State budget was presented. The reports on the current situation in the oil and gas, chemical and fishing industries, the progress in the implementation of the urban planning programme and the development of new architectural projects for Ashgabat, the improvement of electricity supply and modernization of roads were presented. The information on preparations for the commencing ceremony of Atamyrat-Ymamnazar section of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway and the opening ceremonies of buildings and facilities in Garlyk village was presented.
The information on the work done to found the science journal Politics and Society was presented.
The President signed the Resolution on the 2014 Draft State Budget. The document sets forth the procedure and time frame of the submission of reports and statements by the ministries, agencies and khyakimliks to draft the 2014 State budget. The President signed the Resolution on the Purchase of Laboratory Equipment and Reagents for the Institute of Medicinal Plants of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
Other state policy issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the government meeting.
