President of Turkmenistan receives Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) Mr. Martin Marmy, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital.

The sides exchanged views on the prospects and possibilities of partnership between Turkmenistan and the International Road Transport Union given the international projects initiated by the Turkmen state with the aim to optimize transport streams at the Eurasian continent. These include the initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly as well as proposals to study the transit and transport potential on the vast space of the Caspian and Black Sea basin as well as Asian region.

It was noted that Turkmenistan takes specific steps to fulfill its long-term plans and initiatives in the transport sector implementing large-scale projects, including construction of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway.

The distinguished guest highly appreciated Turkmenistan’s contribution to establishment of the modern transport and communication infrastructure of the regional and transcontinental significance and expressed belief that cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International Road Transport Union would successfully develop in the interests of sustainable development, wellbeing and progress.
