President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a videoconference with the Vice Premiers, the heads of ministries and departments and the khyakims of the regions and Ashgabat. The agenda focused on priority issues relating to the harvesting campaign, the progress in implementing the ambitious programmes of reforms and other important political and social issues.
The reports focused on the current situation in the agro-industrial sector and seasonal agricultural activities. In particular, the information on the ongoing harvesting campaign, the use of agricultural machines and equipment in the fields and organisation of leisure time of workers involved in agricultural activities was presented. The high-ranking officials reported that agricultural work in cotton fields throughout the country continued, silk breeders in Dashoguz Velayat had fulfilled their contractual obligations to produce cocoons and agricultural workers in the northern region would start harvesting winter crops this week.
The reports also covered the progress in construction work in the regions, in particular the Avaza national tourism zone, were presented. The high-ranking officials reported on the preparations for a regular meeting of the Elders’ Council, which would take place in Dashoguz Velayat this year.
The reports spotlighted the progress in construction of ginneries and other facilities launched in the regions in accordance with the Agricultural Sector Development Programme for 2012-2016. The report on organizational and commercial activities of the State Commodities and Raw Materials Exchange, the transactions and contracts concluded at the State Exchange and the measures taken to ensure the influx of foreign currency to the State budget was presented. The information on the preparations for Science Day and the measures taken to provide institutions and enterprises of the Academy of Sciences with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment to conduct scientific research. The report on the measures taken to promote the tourism industry spotlighted the preparations for the Week of Turkmen Culture, which would be held on the Caspian seashore.
The information on the organizational work on the participation of Turkmenistan in the exhibition JATA Tourism Forum & Travel Showcase, which would be held in Tokyo (Japan) on September 12-15, was presented. Private travel companies of our country will participate in the international exhibition, along with the organisations affiliated with the State Committee for Tourism. The report on the current situation in the transport and communications sectors and the measures taken to strengthen and modernize sectoral infrastructure, in particular the construction of a ship with 320 passengers, was presented.
The projects of the new buildings of the Research and Clinical Maternal and Child Health Centre and the draft designs of the facade of the buildings of the Dental Centre and the enterprise producing infusion solutions under construction in Ashgabat and adjacent areas were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration. A number of projects and draft designs developed by students of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction were presented for consideration. The report on the progress in implementing the urban planning programme in the capital city and reconstruction of existing roads and construction of new ones and arrangement of green spaces was presented.
Touching upon the preparations for the Traffic Safety Month to be launched in September this year, the President suggested holding it under the motto “Road Safety is Key to a Happy Life” and involving the international organisations accredited in Turkmenistan in organizational work. Touching upon the activities of the Turkmenawtoyollary State Concern, the President said the work done by the State Concern to build roads throughout the country did not meet requirements and joint activities with the relevant agencies were coordinated improperly. The President instructed the high-ranking officials to take necessary measures to build facilities on highways for the convenience of drivers and pedestrians.
Summing up the videoconference, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on once again the importance of the objectives of promoting social and economic growth of the country and improving the standards of living of Turkmen citizens.
