President of Turkmenistan receives Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevičius, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital on official visit leading a representative delegation of his country.

During the meeting particular attention was paid to the prospects of cooperation in the sphere of transport. The energy sector, a number of production industries, including textile industry, the sphere of modern high technologies and the sphere of tourism were specified among the key areas for cooperation.

In conclusion of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevičius expressed belief in successful development of the Turkmen-Lithuanian cooperation at the bilateral level and within the framework of the dialogue between Turkmenistan and European Union.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevičius visited Kypchak, where he laid flowers in the Mausoleum paying tribute to the first President of Turkmenistan and visited the Mausoleum of Spirituality of Turkmenbashi.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania was received at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. Exchanging the views on existing potential and prospects of the Turkmen-Lithuanian cooperation, the sides underlined the significance of enhancing the bilateral inter-parliamentary ties.

That day, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania participated in the Turkmen-Lithuanian Business forum taken place at the Mizan Business Centre.

Within the framework of the visit to Turkmenistan, the head of the Government of Lithuania visited the cotton spinning mill in Abadan and the International Equestrian Sports Complex.

In the evening, an official dinner was given in honour of the distinguished guest.
