President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a working videoconference meeting with the khyakims of the regions and Ashgabat. The progress on the implementation of the social and economic development strategy and the ambitious national programmes was considered during the meeting.

The meeting began with the good news – the heads of the administration of Lebap and Mary Velayat reported that grain growers in the regions had fulfilled their contractual obligations. Agricultural workers in Lebap Velayat had gathered 350,000 tons of wheat, farmers in Mary Velayat – over 380,000 tons of wheat.

The reports on the progress on seasonal agricultural activities, in particular the harvesting campaign, and the measures taken to develop industrial infrastructure and improve the social and living conditions of citizens in the regions were presented. The reports also spotlighted the measures taken in the regions to improve the construction efficiency.

The information on the work on further development of the capital, the current situation in the new etraps of Ashgabat, the measures taken to keep the city clean and neat and the progress on the implementation of the urban planning programme and designing new architectural projects was presented.

Expressing his good wishes to grain growers, the President highly evaluated the work done by farmers associations in Sayat, Garashsyzlyk and Karabekaul Etrap, Lebap Velayat and by farmers associations in Tahtabazar, Serhetabat and Sakarchaga Etrap, Mary Velayat, who were the first to fulfil their contractual obligations.

Emphasizing the importance of holding the harvesting campaign in a proper and timely manner, the Turkmen leader focused on the low pace of agricultural work on some regions of Ahal, Balkan and Dashoguz Velayat. Noting that grain growers in Ahal Velayat had worked hard to gather a rich harvest, the President expressed dissatisfaction with the failure of Ahal Velayat Khyakim M. Nurmammedov to ensure proper organisation of the important agricultural campaign.

Also, the President emphasized the need to properly carry out the preparations for the cotton campaign, implement the General Programme for drinking water supply to settlements throughout Turkmenistan and take an integrated approach to ensure compliance with the fire safety regulations.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that a number of large facilities, including the recreation centres built at the request of the Lebap Velayat Khyakimlik and the Mary Velayat Khyakimlik, were to be put into operation in the Avaza national tourism zone this week. In this regard, the Turkmen leader instructed the relevant high-ranking officials to create all the necessary conditions for comfortable recreation and leisure activities of agricultural workers who had gained the outstanding achievements in the harvesting campaign.

To summarize the President noted that the successful implementation of the large-scale reforms launched in all the regions of our country was to further enhance the economic strength of Turkmenistan in the epoch of might and happiness and improve the standards of living of Turkmen citizens.
