The ceremony of opening the Bagt Kosgi Wedding Palace took place with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the administrative centre of Balkan Velayat.
The Government of Turkmenistan shows an unceasing concern for the families, providing them with multiple benefits. These include an additional 10-day paid leave provided to the newlyweds and their parents. Young mothers can be on maternity leave until a child reaches the age of 3 years, and they continue to get child benefit during this period. The honorary title Ene Myahri is conferred to the mothers who gave birth and raised eight or more children. The women, who have this title, receive a lump-sum allowance and enjoy other benefits.
A soft loan is given to the newlyweds so that they will buy a domestic property and household goods. In addition, they can receive a soft loan at 1 percent per annum for 30 years to buy a house or an apartment. The benefits, which are guaranteed by the laws of Turkmenistan, as well as other allowances vividly evidence great attention paid to the family in the Turkmen state.
The new Palace of Happiness in Balkanabat is a part of the remarkable architectural ensemble. The central part of the multi-storey cube-shaped building resembles the national women’s headdress – ‘byoruk’ – embraced by the two floors-rings, symbolizing unity, reliability and strength of the family ties that emerge there. The Palace is framed with fountains, myriads of diamond splashes of which sparkle in the sunlight and glitter in colourful illumination in the evening. The adjacent territory is planted with conifers, ornamental trees and shrubs and flowers. There are lamps and benches in the area around the building. The interior decoration and design of the Palace of Happiness follow national architectural traditions. The Wedding Palace houses several banquet halls where the marriage registration ceremonies and festive celebrations will take place, the shops of wedding dresses and multifunctional centres that offer a wide range of wedding services.
The President visited the shops, which offer wedding dresses, jewellery, souvenirs and accessories, on the ground floor and talked to the staff members of the Wedding Palace.
Then the President of Turkmenistan visited the Ak Maya and Ak Kejebe banquet halls, each of which is designed for 100 guests, where all the necessary conditions for wedding ceremonies and celebrations were created. Wonderful music, inspiring those present to participate in wedding celebrations, was heard in each banquet hall.
The photo studio, beauty salon, hairdressing salon and pastry shop are located on the ground floor. The restaurant for 500 guests is located in the building adjoining to the Wedding Palace. The offices occupy the first and second floors.
The happy newlyweds – five coupes who were going to join in marriage on that day in the new Wedding Palace greeted the Turkmen leader in the largest banquet hall on the third floor. The number of the couples is symbolically equivalent to five regions Turkmenistan, where the magnificent buildings of the Wedding Palaces like that in Balkanabat will be built in the near future. It should be noted that the wedding costumes of the newlyweds reflect national traditions as well as modern fashion trends. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov greeted the young couples and blessed them for a happy life together in accordance with the age-old national traditions, wishing love, wellbeing and long life together to the young families. “Today,” the Turkmen leader said, “is one of the happiest and most memorable days in your life. Joining in marriage in the new Palace of Happiness, you are entering into a new independent life and creating a new family. Be happy! Live in harmony!”
Then the brides and grooms countersigned their marriage and exchanged the wedding rings in a solemn ceremony.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a picture with the happy newlyweds taken in commemoration of the unforgettable event.
Then the Turkmen leader wrote an entry to the Book of Guests of Honour.
The President presented the car keys to the Weeding Palace after the opening ceremony.
The Turkmen leader left Balkanabat for Turkmenbashi on that day.
