The opening ceremony of the Yelken yacht club, which will be henceforth part of the seaside resort infrastructure, took place on the Caspian seashore. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the ceremony. A concert of popular singers and artists from Turkmenistan and foreign countries was held at the yacht club in the evening.
The Yelken yacht club built by Turkish Polimeks is a multifunctional complex consisting of a number of buildings and facilities that occupies a total area of 362,000 square metres, of which over 32,000 square metres is the building area. The new facilities include the clubhouse, a harbour with moorings for vessels and numerous recreational and service facilities, such as restaurants, cafes, swimming pools, sports fields and children’s playgrounds and dozens of two-storey villas.
The President of Turkmenistan visited one of them to see the conditions created for tourists. The complex includes 44 villas, each of which covers an area of over 200 square metres, and 13 comfortable cottages. They can accommodate over 400 holidaymakers. Along with the guest houses and the clubhouse, there are 16 catering facilities, including restaurants, cafes and snack bars with a splendid view of the sea, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spa-centre and entertainment centres.
There are several artificial lakes in the vicinity of which green spaces are arranged in the territory of a recreation area where the Avaza River flows into the sea. Over 6,000 trees, mainly conifers, are planted in an area of 140,000 square metres; there are many flowerbeds and grass plots with ornamental evergreen shrubs. The main element of the newly built complex is the harbour with moorings for 40 pleasure yachts and boats. The crew of specialists will render quality maintenance services. Yelken is the first facilities of this kind in our country. The yacht club has about 60 large and small ships and boats.
The Turkmen leader visited the main building of the Yelken yacht club where synchronized swimmers and ‘air’ drummers presented a performance. Then the show together with the spectators moved to the sea where it continued with the parade of kites and sailboats. Surfers and aqua-bikers demonstrated their masterly performance. ‘Flying’ hydro-cyclists greatly impressed the audience. The gala concert concluded with the fireworks that illuminated the night sky over the ancient Hazar with myriad of sparkling constellations.
