President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated Turkmen oil and gas industry workers and geologists on the professional holiday. In his address congratulating citizens of Turkmenistan on the Day of Oil and Gas Industry Workers and Geologists the Turkmen leader notes that the oil and gas sector of Turkmen economy has reached the high level of development. The integration of the Turkmen oil and gas sector in the global energy system, the construction of reliable pipeline infrastructure to transit energy to world markets and large oil and gas facilities which were built and put into operation by the 20th anniversary of independence f Turkmenistan are the results of selfless labour of oil and gas industry workers.

The work on modernisation of the oil and gas industry, acceleration of the development of oil and gas deposits, exploration of the structures of deep strata, identification of oil and gas-bearing areas, execution of prospecting works and deep-hole drilling operations, the strengthening of the material and technical basis of the fuel and energy sector is aimed at steadily enhancing energy exports.

The President of Turkmenistan emphasizes that the use of innovations in the oil and gas industry, accelerated development of new and existing hydrocarbon deposits and oil and gas reserves in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, transit of energy to world markets through diversified pipeline infrastructure enable to boost the potential of the fuel and energy sector of the country. New large-scale infrastructure facilities are built and put into operation and the industry is developing towards diversification through mutually advantageous cooperation in the oil and gas industry. Advanced technologies will be applied further in industry and energy production will be steadily increased as consistent with the programme for the development of the oil and gas industry for the period till 2030.

The research results and calculations carried out by Turkmen geologists in the Southern Yoloten-Osman-Minara and Yaslar fields as well as the estimates made by the well-known British auditing firm Gaffney, Cline & Associates allowed to give proof of the presence of 26.2 trillion cubic metres of gas in these unique deposits. This gratifying fact will enable to significantly enhance the effectiveness of the works carried out on these fields which have the world’s biggest gas reserves and cope with assigned tasks. Therefore, we decided to name this huge natural gas deposit the Galkynys gas field as a symbol of the present historical epoch.

In his congratulatory address President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov notes particularly that the untold natural wealth of Turkmenistan that ranks among the countries with the world’s largest oil and gas reserves will be used to improve the quality of life of citizens and in the interests of mankind and achieve global energy security. Evidence for the success of the projects to transit energy to world markets was the festivities to mark the supply of Turkmen natural gas to the Asia-Pacific region which took place in the Guangdong Province in China during the recent state visit to the People’s Republic of China. 65 billion cubic metres of Turkmen natural gas will be supplied via the Turkmenistan-Chin gas pipeline each year to the People’s Republic of China. Turkmenistan also seeks to implement the ambitious projects to transit energy along the route Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India and towards Europe.
