President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is arriving for a working visit to the Russian Federation today. The agenda of the top level talks, which will be held in Moscow, the capital of Russia, will focus on priority aspects of interstate relations consistently built on an equal, constrictive and long-term basis and critical issues of regional and international politics of mutual interest.

In the present epoch Turkmen-Russian partnership founded on the mutual political will and long-term experience of trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation and the historically established close ties of friendship and good neighbourhood between the two nations is being filled with a new content. This is conditioned by its profound multifaceted potential as well as the willingness of Turkmenistan and Russia to implement this potential most effectively and employ all existing resources to build up mutually advantageous cooperation that has been given a powerful impetus to develop.

In this context the mutual understanding and confidence between the leaders of the two states and the readiness of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation to being the interstate dialogue to a qualitatively new level meeting national priorities and modern realities serves as an essential factor. Vivid evidence for it is regular top level meetings and talks, including in the framework of the major international events such as the summits of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Fruitful collaboration between Turkmenistan and the largest regions of the Russian Federation, including the Republic of Tatarstan, St. Petersburg, the Astrakhan Oblast and the Sverdlovsk Oblast and other subjects of the Russian Federation can rightfully serve as an illustrating example of the effective development of bilateral cooperation. The other bright indicators of successful economic partnership include the operation of a number of well-known Russian companies that contribute to implementing joint projects, including in the fuel and energy sector, which is strategically important for both economies, and show the keen interest in enhancing business contacts on the Turkmen market.

The positive dynamics of interstate partnership can be judged by a consistent increased trade between the two countries and the fruitful activities of the Turkmen-Russian and the Russian-Turkmen business councils and the intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Russian Commission. These structures are to play a critical role in enhancing and promoting fruitful cooperation, putting the agreements in practice, diversifying collaboration and elaborating its new forms.

It should be noted that Turkmen-Russian cooperation embraces a wide spectrum of aspects in various fields. Along with the trade and economic and the fuel and energy sectors the favourable possibilities for concerted efforts are opened up in the transport and communications, high-tech, tourism, investment and other sectors.

Cooperation in the humanitarian sphere that the sides attach considerable importance to is certainly an essential component of Turkmen-Russian relations. Regular contacts enhanced in the spheres of education, science and culture is vivid evidence for it. Cooperation in the spheres of higher education and professional training has been significantly intensified in recent years. Cultural and creative exchanges that have been given new incentives and content also facilitate strengthening and enriching bilateral fruitful contacts.

Thus, this working visit and the top level talks between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Dmitriy Medvedev in Moscow will be a new step to enhance further and build up relationships that are successfully developed in the bi- and multi-lateral formats as well as within the authoritative regional and international organisations and structures and viewed as full strategic cooperation. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is expected to have a meeting with RF Prime Minister Vladimir Putin during the working visit to Moscow.
