The venue for the New Year celebrations was the square in front of the Monument to the Constitution of Turkmenistan where the tallest New Year’s tree is placed. Following the tradition, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov shared the joy of this wonderful holiday with young citizens of Turkmenistan and participated in the festivities arranged round the New Year’s tree.
The Chairperson of the Mejlis, cabinet ministers, khyakims of Ashgabat and velayats and high-ranking military and law enforcement officials gathered together on the square.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov drove to the festively decorated square. Cordially congratulating the participants and guests of the festivities, the President together with children headed to the beautiful New Year’s tree where Ayaz baba and Garpamyk heartily greeted the Turkmen leader.
A bright show was performed there. The culmination of the festivities was the dance round the beautiful New Year’s tree that sparkled with myriads of colourful lights. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gladly joined in singing and dancing round the New Year’s tree on request of children.
Heartily congratulating young citizens of Turkmenistan on the coming of the New Year and wished them good health, happiness, successful studies and the fulfilment of their dearest wishes. The New Year’s gifts were presented to children on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.
The programme of interesting events and meetings which will bring much joy to children during the winter holidays was prepared. These include the festivities round the New Year’s tree in Ashgabat and bright performances with the participation of popular singers, theatrical artists, young artists and favourite fairytale personages. The New Year celebrations bringing together thousands of children round the New Year’s tree are taking place throughout the country.
The Turkmen leader had a photograph with young participants of the celebrations, Ayaz baba and Garpamyk taken. The President heartily congratulated those present and expressed the best wishes for the New Year.
Then the President drove to the Mizan Business Centre located in the south of Ashgabat where he participated in the New Year celebrations. A big concert with the participation of cultural workers and artists from all over the country was performed there.
