President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip to Balkan Velayat where he visited the construction site of the large complex producing fish and fish products under construction on the Caspian coast and the Northern Goturdepe oil and gas field and had a meeting with railway workers in Bereket town.
The main aim of the Turkmen leader’s trip to Balkan Velayat is to meet with his constituents in the framework of the preparations for the February 12 presidential election. As is known, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was nominated as candidate in the presidential election on the joint meeting of public organisations of Turkmenistan which took place on December 15, 2011.
In the morning the President’s plane landed at the international airport in Turkmenbashi town where the Turkmen leader held a working meeting. The programme for the industrial infrastructure development in Balkan Velayat for 2012-2015 developed under the National Programme for Social and Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2011-2030 was presented to the President for consideration during the meeting.
After the Turkmen leader considered the programme that provides for the construction of 80 industrial facilities with advanced technologies and modernization of 10 existing enterprises which will create 7,192 new jobs in the region, he provided some suggestions and comments.
Balkan Velayat Khyakim S. Stalykov reported on the work carried out in the western region to implement the National Programme for the improvement of the social and living conditions in settlements, villages, towns in etraps and entrap centres for the period till 2020 and the General Programme for drinking water supply to settlements in Turkmenistan.
Reporting on the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader’s instructions, the Balkan Velayat Khyakim presented the projects for the improvement of water supply in Gyzylsuv settlement and the construction of a number of social and economic facilities in Turkmnebashi town and a park complex in the Avaza national tourism zone.
The President considered these projects and approved them in whole. The Turkmen leader demanded that the local high-ranking officials take all necessary measures to promote social sphere – education, health care, housing and communal services as this directly contributes to improving the people’s welfare.
After finishing the meeting, the Turkmen leader helicopter took him to Turkmenbashi Etrap.
During the flight the President could see numerous construction sites and evaluate the pace of contraction work launched in this region. A new settlement with modern infrastructure and dozens of industrial and social facilities will be established there in the future.
In a few hours the President’s helicopter landed in the vicinities of Gyyanly settlement. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov greeted those present and headed to the construction site of the large complex producing fish and fish products.
An exposition of products of the Balkanbalyk State Enterprise, the leader in the fishing industry, was arranged there. Small-displacement and fishing vessels of the Balkanbalyk State Enterprise catch fish such as sprat, ordinary fish – carp, mullet in the Caspian Sea and the rivers of the country. A variety of fish products – smoked fish, salt fish, canned fish and freshly caught fish from the Caspian Sea are delivered to trade shops throughout the country.
Local specialists made the presentation of the project of the new industrial complex to be built on the Caspian seashore. Its annual production capacity is 2.824 millions of cans and 300 tons of fish products, including smoked fish, dried fish, pickled fish, semi-prepared foods and ready-to-serve food. It will also produce fish flour which can be used at livestock and poultry farms as a valuable food additive to fodder.
Talking to fishing industry workers and local citizens of Gyyanly settlement, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov asked them about their everyday concerns and living and working conditions. The Turkmen leader noted that the aim of his working trip was to meet with people and see their living and working conditions and the impact of the ongoing social and economic reforms in the region.
Touching upon the important task the country is to fulfil in the present historical period, the Turkmen leader emphasized that the large-scale work to be done in the country required concerted efforts to diversify the national economy, bring science, education and health care in line with international standards and develop modern social infrastructures in all regions of Turkmenistan.

There the Turkmen leader could see the drilling rig which is used for driving the well 200. The total depth of the well is 5,100 metres; 4,100 metres of them have been driven.
Local specialists, who accompanied the Turkmen leader during his visit to the oil and gas field, said the drilling results allowed stating that a commercial hydrocarbon fuel inflow could be received in this field in the near future.
In this context President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined the importance of applying innovative technologies and scientific and technological advances and state-of-the-art equipment in the fuel and energy sector, including drilling activity.
The Turkmen leader highly evaluated a profound contribution that oil industry workers had made to enhance the economic strength of the Motherland.
The President said the Government allocated substantial investment to develop the oil and gas industry and to explore new oil and gas pools in particular. State-of-the-art technologies and equipment are purchased and collaboration with leading foreign companies is promoted for this purpose.
The groundwork for the energy strategy of Turkmenistan that provides for natural gas export to the People’s Republic of China, Iran and the Russian Federation and the development of a number of projects aimed at diversifying transit of Turkmen energy to world markets is abundant hydrocarbon resources of our country. In this context the Turkmen leader mentioned the Galkynysh field in the east of the country, one of the gas fields which hold the world’s largest natural gas reserves.

“We will continue to build railroads in different directions,” said the Turkmen leader noting that the Atamyrat-Imamnazar railway, the Gazachak-Shasenem-Dashoguz railway, a railway bridge across the Amu Darya River and a high-speed railway between Turkmenbashi in Balkan Velayat and Turkmenabat in Lebap Velayat would be built in the near future.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said the implementation of these ambitious projects would give a powerful impetus to modernize the transport sector, and this would become possible through the inspired and productive labour of railway specialists.
Noting that salaries, pensions, state benefits and scholarships had been raised in the country since January 2012, the Turkmen leader emphasized that the state would take further measures to improve the welfare of citizens.
